In the Beginning
My Journey as a Therapist
Being a therapist who works with students and young adults has been a fulfilling experience for me. My journey began as a bilingual teacher, a role I dedicated seven years to while pursuing my Master’s in Education, with a focus on school counseling. This background equipped me with valuable skills that I now apply daily to support my clients. Through my bilingual education experience, I learned the importance of communication and connection, both of which are crucial to building a trusting therapeutic relationship. I believe that understanding cultural contexts is essential in helping young individuals navigate their emotional and academic challenges. My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe space where students and young adults can express themselves, explore their thoughts and feelings, and develop effective coping strategies. I am deeply committed to helping my clients reach their full potential, whether that means guiding them through academic stress, personal challenges, or any other issues they may face. My dual background in teaching and counseling allows me to blend educational techniques with therapeutic practices, ensuring a holistic, comprehensive approach. Ultimately, my mission is to empower students and young adults to thrive in both their studies and their personal lives.

What to expect in a therapy session
In my sessions with children and adolescents, we start with a check-in activity to enhance self-awareness and explore emotions since our last meeting. This process helps us identify and articulate feelings while also understanding how these emotions manifest physically.
For young adults and adults, each session also begins with a check-in. In the initial meetings, our focus is on building rapport through engaging in online activities and expressive art therapy. I often incorporate nonverbal expressive art techniques with receptive clients, as these methods offer significant benefits for individuals of all ages.
After completing our main activity, we take time to reflect on and process our experiences together. It's important to recognize that some expressive art activities may require multiple sessions to fully explore and understand.
